You can both learn and find deception during Philadelphia Eagles training camp. You’ve seen all of those highlight-reel catches by Jalen Reagor, right? Yep, that’s what we thought!

Every NFL training camp is a grind. Guys are put through the wringer mentally and emotionally. We’re introduced to (and fall in and out of love with) guys that will never make the roster… or any other team’s roster. Players become camp darlings. Then, there’s the heat.

One can never be shocked when the combination of summertime humidity and a stressful NFL practice session leads to a few fights. Hey, it’s a part of the deal sometimes, so you can understand why, after coaches have watched their guys lean on each other for a couple of weeks, why those coaches and their players would want to go beat up on someone else.

Thank goodness for the option of joint practices. Philly announced a couple as we move into the back half of May.

Here’s something else to think about as the Eagles announce joint sessions with the Dolphins.

One of the NFL’s newer wrinkles, the introduction of the 18-week, 17-game NFL season, also means we only have to be subjected to three preseason games before every team takes a week off and, then, begins what they hope will be a march towards hoisting the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

Philly’s last leg of that preseason slate involves a road game versus the Miami Dolphins. On May 17th, the Birds announced joint practices with Miami in the days leading up to the preseason finale. There isn’t much to say on that note other than the following.

We reiterate the importance of knowing camp can be deceiving. We, again, mention those highlight-reel snags made by Reagor if you need an example, but here’s one other thing of note that’s worth a mention.

At the time of this story being written and published, Philadelphia is still short a legitimate starting cornerback to pair with Darius Slay. They could also use help at safety, and there’s been no mention of a trade involving Jessie Bates.

If nothing changes from a roster standpoint, that will be a huge talking point leading up to said joint practices. Miami has added Tyreek Hill. They already had Jaylen Waddle and Mike Gesicki. It will be interesting to see what we’ll find out about the Eagles’ secondary. Something tells us we’ll see how far these guys have progressed in a hurry.
