4 Eagles who somehow avoided hotter seats after free agency, NFL Draft
Yes, Andre Dillard is amazingly still a member of this Eagles organization.
At this point, you have to begin asking serious questions. Is there any possibility that Andre Dillard knows some life-altering secret about Philadelphia Eagles vice president/general manager Howie Roseman or the boss, Jeffrey Lurie? How else do you explain him still being here?
That’s a joke of course. There’s no need to email us or drop nasty threats in the comment line from those burner accounts. Still, though no one should be surprised by the fact that he’s still on the roster, we’ve all gone through the mental reps of imagining ways to get Andre Dillard on the first bus out of town. He’s been quite the disappointment.
When Philly made Dillard the 22nd-overall selection, during Round 1 of the 2019 NFL Draft, the theory was he’d spend a year with Jason Peters and then take over as the Eagles’ long-term answer at left tackle going forward. No one had any ideas about him losing the job to a former seventh-round selection from Australia.
Since Jordan Mailata’s rise to stardom, the theory has become Dillard’s best value comes as a trade piece. Teams could always use help at left tackle, but seeing as how Philly hasn’t made any major offseason upgrades to the ends of their O-line, there’s a high chance the Birds enter the 2022 regular season with Andre on board.
