Eagles Jalen Hurts will prove to doubters he can also win his arm this season

The Philadelphia Eagles 2022-2023 schedule is out, and there are the teams that could serve as a field day for Jalen Hurts. That being said, QB1 doesn’t have to be the carefree gunslinger that Patrick Mahomes is, but he does have to prove that he can consistently be more accurate as a passer.

Hurts’ completion percentage as a rookie capped at 52%. As a full-time starter during his sophomore run, that rose to 62%. He’s shown improvement every year, and he’s done so since his days as a collegiate standout. Let’s not forget that Philly’s signal-caller hasn’t had the same coaching staff for consecutive seasons since he was in high school, and when he got to Philly, there was a mess that ended with the end of the Doug Pederson era.

Jalen has, again, had to learn a new system under head coach Nick Sirianni and Shane Steichen, who are still figuring things out themselves.

As for his deep ball, let’s use Drew Brees as a comp when he won the Super Bowl (yes, we meant to say ‘Drew Brees’). Watching these guys toss the ball long distances is fun to watch, but it isn’t always necessary. Brees didn’t throw any passes over 30 yards in football’s biggest game.

We can also use Jimmy Garoppolo as a comp. He isn’t a gunslinger, but he’s gotten the San Francisco 49ers to two NFC Championship Games and a Super Bowl appearance.

Hurts can do the same, especially now that he has the duo of A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith on his side to help him get those tough yards after the catch. That being said, let’s discuss Mr. Hurts the passer.

We’ve circled a game versus a division rival, another team that Philly beat handily last season, and a team that’s in rebuilding mode. Here are three teams that Jalen Hurts will shred with his arm.
