The Eagles will shine versus Dallas and will be spearheaded by Jalen Hurts’ passing.

The first NFC East opponent the Eagles will face at Lincoln Financial Field is those pesky Dallas Cowboys. That game is scheduled for Week 6 on Sunday Night Football.

Don’t let all of those interceptions the Cowboys racked up fool you. Overall, they were pretty pedestrian, and they can be taken advantage of.

The Dallas secondary gave up 4,049 passing yards and 24 passing touchdowns during the 2021-2022 NFL campaign. Sure, they tallied 26 interceptions, but they also gave up the fifth most plays that surrendered 20 yards or more.

Hurts missed the second meeting between the two teams last year. In the first, he threw for 326 passing yards, but a lot of that came in garbage time.

The Cowboys lost two edge rushers, Randy Gregory and Bradlee Anae. Hurts is a year wiser in the Nick Sirianni/Shane Steichen system, and has the best supporting cast he’s ever had.

Hurts can expose that porous Dallas secondary with A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. He can also utilize the short passing game to rack up easy yards with Dallas Goedert and his tailback rotation. The Cowboys’ secondary is about the same as it was last year from a talent standpoint.

They lost despite Maurice Canady, Reggie Robinson II, and Damontae Kazee. They drafted DaRon Bland during Round 4 of the most recent NFL Draft. There’s no reason to believe that the Birds’ starting quarterback can’t put up 270 passing yards and two touchdowns in this one game, which will send the home crowd happy.

That’s enough discussion about the Cowboys. Let’s move on to an NFC North team that Philly faced and dismantled last season.
