The battle to make the Eagles’ cornerback room figures to be must-see television all summer long.

Had you said, during the 2020 offseason and prior to free agency, that the Eagles would be fielding James Bradberry and Darius Slay as their starting cornerback tandem two years later, you would have won a ton of bets. If you’ll remember, Bradberry and Byron Jones were the top guys in free agency in 2020 at the cornerback position, but Philly missed out on both of them.

That’s the reason why Slay is here in the first place. Once James and Byron were no longer options, Howie Roseman executed a trade to get Big Play on board.

Now, as stated earlier, Slay and Bradberry will start on the outside. Avonte Maddox has proven himself to be a worthy sot corner. The question is what’s the plan after that?

We all assume that Zech McPhearson, a fourth-round pick from 2021’s draft, will make the team, but who knows? Even if he does (Trust us. That’s no guarantee), the other nine guys are competing for what we assume to be two spots on the 53-man roster.

Check out this list of names: Josh Blackwell, Kary Vincent Jr., Josiah Scott, Jimmy Moreland, Mario Goodrich, Tay Gowan, Craig James, Josh Jobe, and Mac McCain III. The battle at wide receiver figures to have us talking all summer. The battle at cornerback appears to be doubly so.
