Might we be discussing a few dark horses to make the Eagles’ roster in 2022?

It’s a time-honored tradition. Through every slate of preseason games, year-in and year-out, the Philadelphia Eagles introduce us to a few guys that went undrafted but have the talent to make some noise all the way up to final roster cuts. Think of Corey Clement or T.J. Edwards if you need an example.

For most Paul Turner’s story is the comp, a fan favorite in his day that was a fun story but, in the end, proved to be worthy of respect but unable to cut the mustard. Philly added 12 undrafted rookie free agents following the most recent NFL Draft. Might there be a T.J. Edwards or a Corey Clement in this bunch? Let’s discuss the cornerback position for a second.

Guesses can be made about how excited the Eagles are about this class of undrafted free agents by simply looking at the amount of guaranteed money they handed out. Prior to the addition of James Bradberry, Philly brought in three rookie corners: Josh Blackwell, Josh Jobe, and the man that might be the best of the bunch, Mario Goodrich.

The former Clemson star’s teammate, Andrew Booth Jr. was linked to Philly often during the pre-draft process. More often than not, during their collegiate careers, Goodrich was just as good on the other side of the Tigers’ formation.

On the year in 2021, he tallied 42 tackles, two interceptions, forced fumbles, and nine pass breakups. Booth turned in 37 tackles, three interceptions, and five pass breakups.
