8. player. 54. . . . Carson Strong, quarterback

Carson Strong figures to supplant Reid Sinnett as the Eagles’ third quarterback.

Open the doors. Crank up those conveyor belts. The Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterback factory is back open for business, and business has certainly picked up in the form of former Nevada Wolf Pack signal-caller Carson Strong.

The Birds, though no one seems to be thinking in this frame of reference, officially have a suitable option if the Jalen Hurts thing doesn’t work out. Don’t take that the wrong way. Most want to see Hurts enjoy a successful run in the NFL, but this Strong guy is someone who many saw as one of the top ten quarterbacks available during the most recent selection meeting and someone that can bring dignity back to the name ‘Carson’ in the City of Brotherly Love.

He isn’t the athlete that Hurts is, but he has an arm that’s nearing elite level. The questions are about a knee issue that he dealt with since high school.

No one should be too worried as it didn’t stop him from throwing for 9,368 passing yards while completing 68% of his passes and tossing 74 touchdowns versus only 19 interceptions during his final three seasons at the collegiate level. That equates to 31 games.

Strong will enter Eagles camp as the fourth quarterback on the depth chart, but we mentioned value and guaranteed money with these guys earlier, and the two-time Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year Award winner/two-time First-Team All-Mountain West nod (2020, 2021) is getting a lot of it, $320,000 in year one to be exact as, according to Spotrac, his three-year deal is worth $2.5 million with a signing bonus of $20,000.

Yeah, something tells us that, when it’s all said and done, it will be Strong on the roster as the third-string signal-caller while Reid Sinnett is settling into his role as scout team quarterback. That is unless Gardner Minshew gets traded. Don’t rule that last theory yet as things begin to get interesting and we begin inching toward the start of the regular season.
