ESPN ranks the Eagles roster haul as the NFL’s second best
If you’re like most Philadelphia Eagles fans, you’ve probably told yourselves several times by now that being a great team ‘on paper’ doesn’t guarantee you anything. Winning the offseason won’t put any games in the win column. It helps, but Philly understands the process has just begun.
Now, if you’re excited about the future, no one’s going to beat you up. How long have we waited to feel good about Philly’s roster again? It’s been a couple of years at minimum, right? We’ll have to wait and see if the Birds have done enough to reclaim the NFC East from the Dallas Cowboys, but no one seems to have any complaints about how Howie Roseman and his team has chosen to attack the offseason.

One of the more familiar topics since the most recent NFL Draft, outside of the aforementioned plans of toppling Dallas and the constant chatter about whether or not Jalen Hurts is the man to lead Philly into the future, has revolved around how good a job the Eagles have done in retooling their roster.

There was already a buzz after the Eagles drafted Jordan Davis and Nakobe Dean (and they acquired A.J. Brown via trade). Signing James Bradberry only added to the adrenaline rush, and ever since, people have been asking with relative frequency if Philadelphia’s offseason ranks as the NFL’s best.
In a recent power ranking of every team’s offseason moves, ESPN’s Bill Barnwell says it does not. He still gives the nod to the Denver Broncos as he places the Birds at number two. This one sits behind an ESPN Plus paywall, so we won’t share any quotes, but we will say this.
The Broncos have done themselves a lot of favors by adding Russell Wilson and Randy Gregory. The defense has rarely been one of Denver’s problems. If they figure out how to move the ball, watch out.

As far as what’s going on in the NFC East, Philly’s rivals, the New York Giants, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Washington Commanders crack the list at six, 24, and 26 respectively. Again, games aren’t won on paper, but if what we’ve been watching is any indication of what to expect during the coming NFL campaign, Philadelphia Eagles fans may have a lot to smile about all season long.
