Examining Eagles most obvious routes to adding C.J. Stroud or Bryce Young
By Ryan Loftus
1. Has anyone explored the possibility of the Eagles’ season being a disappointment? What if this team takes a step backward?
It’s happened before, and it can happen again. Every year, teams regress. There are also surprises. Often, we see teams that take steps forward and surprise us as they wind up occupying playoff spots we thought would belong to other franchises.
Then, there’s implosion, and it comes in many forms. Sure, the Eagles appear to be stacked and deep. Sure, they’ve added talent and Brandon Graham will be back, but anything can happen.
Injuries can occur. Guys can underperform. It would be ridiculous to assume, in June, that Philadelphia is assured of a playoff berth. Everyone expects the Birds to take the next step, but one or two key injuries to key players can put this team in a bad position quickly. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen though.
The good news is a bad season can place Philly in a position to land one of next year’s best prospects, but at this point, following the anguish and inconsistency that Eagles fans have endured, we’d much rather see them be forced to explore other options if they are interested in landing Young or Stroud.
