Eagles fare well in NFL power ranking fueled by Super Bowl odds

In a league that prides itself on parity (and probably does a better job of providing it than the other major professional sports), the NFL has mastered the art of keeping its fans intrigued. Thanks to the salary cap, a system of free agency, and the annual NFL Draft, teams can go from the outhouse to the penthouse in a matter of months. Just look at what the Philadelphia Eagles have done in less than a year and a half.

After the time expired on a masterful job of tanking during a January 3rd rear-end whooping, Philly’s atrocious 4-11-1 2020-2021 campaign had ended. It felt like the walls were closing in and the final nails had been driven into the coffin. Philly didn’t flinch though.

Doug Pederson was replaced with Nick Sirianni. Carson Wentz was replaced with Jalen Hurts. Jim Schwartz and Dave Fipp were replaced by Jonathan Gannon and Michael Clay. Upgrades were made to the roster via the draft.

Philly got a little help from a favorable schedule down the stretch during their most recent regular-season run, and despite a 31-15 trip to the woodshed versus the Buccaneers in Tampa (in a game that was never as close as the score would indicate), a nice offseason has given Birds fans something they haven’t had in a while… hope.

Much is expected of the Eagles in 2022, but this one is hard to believe.

The overall vibe surrounding Philly as it approaches the 2022-2023 NFL season can be summed up in two words – mixed emotions. For the most part, everyone’s been realistic with their expectations however.

Despite last season’s playoff appearance, everyone knows there’s still a ton of work to do. The Philadelphia Eagles’ continued climb back to consistent relevancy isn’t an overnight process. No one expected it to be, but it’s nice to know there are reasons to be excited.

A nice offseason filled many of the holes we’ve agonized over for what seems like the past three offseasons. There’s hope that this is the year that Nick Sirianni and company can right the NFC East’s ship and take the division back from the hated Dallas Cowboys.

Now, while no one’s ready to discuss a deep playoff run yet. That didn’t stop our friends over at BetSided from placing the Birds in the upper half of a recent NFL Power Ranking that they put together, one that places Philly right outside the top ten.

Here’s the catch. This power ranking was constructed with Super Bowl odds in mind. According to WynnBET, the Eagles have odds of +2500 to hoist the Vince Lombardi Trophy next February. That makes them the number 11 team on the list. The top ten teams are as follows:

Hey, don’t blame us! Blame Las Vegas! To some, calling the Eagles the 11th best team in the NFL ahead of training camp might be seen as a stretch. To others, well, in all honesty, Vegas and BetSided’s power ranking could be seen as being spot on.

Is Nick Sirianni the real deal? Can Jalen Hurts take the next step? Will a favorable schedule again do the Birds some good? If the answer to those questions is yes, this Eagles team could sneak up on a few teams and surprise some people. Fingers are crossed as the hope is that’s exactly what we see take place.
