Eagles news: Nick Sirianni tops all NFC East coaches in recent ranking
Here’s what we’ve learned about both Nick Sirianni and Jalen Hurts ahead of the 2022-2023 Philadelphia Eagles regular season. Both are supremely focused. Both have the full support of the organization and locker room.
Vice president/general manager Howie Roseman has done all that he can to bolster the roster, and on paper, this team looks better than it did a season ago. Hurts has taken extra steps to improve as a passer, and he looked great during OTAs.
Sirianni and the leadership structure have taken some heat for canceling minicamp, but there’s no way to determine whether or not that was the right decision until we reach the regular season and this team starts playing in games that affect the win-loss total.
Here’s another similarity that QB1 and the head coach share. If this team falters, they’ll shoulder the majority of the blame. Their wagons are hitched to one another, but It’s easy to like a lot of what we’ve all seen so far though.
Nick was the only rookie head coach to lead his team to the postseason. That’s a fact that hasn’t been lost on everyone watching.
Nick Sirianni lands in the top half of NFL head coaches in a recent ranking.
With the summer in full swing, now is the time in which our attention shifts to making guesses about who might make the team and how every team should perform during the regular season. Pro Football Network recently offered their own power ranking of NFL head coaches.
Nick Sirianni landed in the top half at number 15. Here’s what Mike Kaye, the writer of this one, had to say on the subject.
"Nick Sirianni was the fodder of Philly radio throughout his first season at the helm. However, after a slow start to his first campaign, Sirianni made several changes at the midway point of the season and pushed the Eagles into the postseason with a 9-8 record. Sirianni and Jalen Hurts will look to prove they deserve their jobs with new No. 1 wideout A.J. Brown joining the fold."
The rest of the NFC East’s head coach finished as follows: Mike McCarthy of the Dallas Cowboys lands at 18 as he joins Nick in the ‘these guys still have something to prove’ tier. Ron Rivera of the Washington Commanders checks in at 20 in the ‘another shot at excellence’ tier. New York Giants coach Brian Daboll lands in the rookie tier… obviously.
Let’s hope the divisional standings look similar once we reach the end of the 18-week, 17-game schedule. No Birds fan would complain if that’s how things turned out.
