. . T.J. Edwards, linebacker. . player. 54.

T.J. Edwards will make the Eagles’ roster, but will he start over Nakobe Dean?

Before we make another statement, let’s make a few things abundantly clear. One, T.J. Edwards is a baller. Second, he should and will make this roster. Third, he’s done just about everything that this organization has asked of him while he’s proven to two coaching staffs that he belongs.

If one were to wager, it would be wise to bank on the Philadelphia Eagles opening in Week 1 with T.J. as the starter. Have you seen this Nakobe Dean guy though? Are you aware that he’s been named as a potential defensive rookie of the year candidate by a few voices that we trust?

Ladies and gentlemen, that isn’t happening for no reason. If you thought this young man played with a chip on his shoulder at the collegiate level, wait until you see what happens now.

Seen as a first-round talent by many draft pundits, as you know, Dean was taken until the Birds made him the 83rd-overall selection, during Round 3 of the most recent NFL Draft. Sure, he has a nice smile and everything, but you can best believe that dude is ticked and feels like he has something to prove. That’s phenomenal news for Birds fans everywhere because there’s no reason to believe he won’t be successful.

On another note: Keep an eye on a battle at the linebacker position that might be brewing between Shaun Bradley and Kyron Johnson, two youngsters whose shot at making this team might come down to what they do on special teams.
