So, what should we expect from the top three wide receivers on the Eagles’ depth chart?

You’ve probably heard of Merrill Reese, right? We’d consider him to be a reliable source, wouldn’t we? Seriously, he’s seen every Philadelphia Eagles game since 1977. Remember, all of those highlights of the Miracle at the Meadowlands? Yep, that was Merrill calling the play with his now-famous “I don’t believe it.. I don’t believe it..” following Herman Edwards’ scoop and score.

That’s one Philly legend whose opinion will always fall under the category of trustworthy, so when he says that DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, and Jason Avant made up the most talented trio of Eagles receivers that he ever saw, we won’t argue. Statements like those make the next feel like an adrenaline rush though.

When the Birds begin the 2022-2023 regular-season campaign in the Motor City versus the Detroit Lions, we expect the top three receivers on their depth chart to be A.J. Brown, second-year man DeVonta Smith, and the speedster, Quez Watkins.

They haven’t worked together yet, but they’re collectively talented enough to, when it’s all said and done, make Merrill change his mind. It all comes down to how Jalen Hurts develops as a passer, but you officially have reason to be thrilled about the possibilities on offense. Here are some way-too-early statistical predictions for the Eagles’ top three wideouts on the roster.
