Philadelphia Eagles 2022 preseason schedule: Analyzing each opponent
The Philadelphia Eagles open the preseason slate at home versus the New York Jets.
The Philadelphia Eagles’ preseason schedule opens versus their opponent from last year’s preseason finale, a team that they also met during Week 13 of the regular season. It’s year two of the Robert Saleh and Zach Wilson era, and the team bearing a nickname that would be much cooler if it was Philly’s (Gang Green) is hoping to make some noise in 2022.
Since their 4-13 close to the 2021-2022 NFL season, the Jets got busy. They re-signed Braxton Berrios. That was smart, as was the decision to exercise the fifth-year option on Quinnen Williams’ deal and make other signings, Lamarcus Joyner and C.J. Uzomah being two of them.
Much was made about how good the Eagles’ draft was and rightfully so, but there’s been some buzz surrounding New York’s draft class as well. New York definitely did themselves some favors.
They added cornerback Ahmad Gardner, wide receiver Garrett Wilson, defensive end Jermaine Johnson, running back Breece Hall, tight end Jeremy Ruckert, offensive tackle Max Mitchell, and defensive end Micheal Clemons. There may not have been better options at each selection.
With his being a young team, Birds fans can expect to see all of those guys in the first preseason game, even if they don’t play long. The New York Jets have never beaten Philadelphia in a regular-season game, but they should best the Birds here in a snoozer as they’ll make more of an effort to win.
Then again, these two teams battled to a 31-31 tie a year ago in one of the more entertaining preseason finales so you never know. There are a lot of guys who are trying to sneak onto these respective rosters.
