Philadelphia Eagles 2022 preseason schedule: Analyzing each opponent
The Philadelphia Eagles meet the Browns at FirstEnergy Stadium. We just don’t know who will be on the field.
At the time of this story being written and published, Deshaun Watson‘s disciplinary hearings are underway. Many expect a suspension, but for the sake of argument, let’s assume he’s available for Week 2 of the preseason. Philly could get an extended look at him. Then again, the way things are going with Baker Mayfield, he may still be on the roster.
The Browns would be foolish to gamble with the prospect of getting Watson injured. They have about 230 million reasons why that’s the case (and his deal is fully guaranteed). Still, with the NFL’s preseason consisting of three games now, it’s expected that most NFL franchises will treat Week 2 as the dress rehearsal for their starters.
That means the Eagles won’t just see Cleveland’s shiny new addition. They’ll also get a crack at Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt, Amari Cooper, and David Njoku… maybe.
You never know how teams will manage the workload of their best players in meaningless games, but Cleveland’s offense will provide a nice test for Philadelphia’s new-look defense. They have stars on defense too to keep the Birds offense busy, Myles Garrett, Jadeveon Clowney, Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, Denzel Ward, and Greg Newsome II being among them.
