Philadelphia Eagles 2022 preseason schedule: Analyzing each opponent
The Philadelphia Eagles close the preseason slate in South Beach versus the Miami Dolphins.
The Birds will participate in joint practices with Miami Dolphins in the days leading up to the preseason finale before taking a week off to prepare for the regular-season opener in the Motor City versus the Detroit Lions. Expect those practices to be intense. Expect a few tweets as everyone will want to see Darius Slay and James Bradberry line up across from Tyreek Hill and Jalen Waddle.
The Fins are mirror images of the Eagles in many ways. They have the potential to be a scary offense, but there are questions about their quarterback (Tua Tagovailoa). Everyone’s excited about their young aforementioned wide receiver duo. They boast one of the game’s best young tight ends (Mike Gesicki).
Like Philly, Miami is solid at left tackle, thanks to their addition of three-time Pro Bowler Terron Armstead. It should be fun to watch the Eagles’ edge rushers go against him in practice. We haven’t mentioned this team’s defense yet, so let’s do that now.
Miami is also similar to the Philadelphia Eagles as they boast an immensely talented cornerback duo of their own, Xavien Howard and Byron Jones. Christian Wilkins, Raekwon Davis, Emmanuel Ogbah, and Jevon Holland will be leaned on to make plays all year.
Miami isn’t quite ready to overtake the Buffalo Bills yet. They may finish behind the New England Patriots, but they’ll be better than the Jets and as a problem for every team they face.
It would seem like this would be a nice tune-up game for the regular season, but it won’t be. The starters won’t play, and the joint practices will be more competitive.
Still, this gives the guys at the bottom of the roster one final shot to impress their respective coaching staffs. Might a darkhorse emerge late and make Philadelphia’s roster? We won’t have to wait much longer to find out.
