. . . Carson Strong, quarterback. 8. player. 54

Don’t be shocked if Carson Strong is the second quarterback on the Philadelphia Eagles’ depth chart soon.

Just when you thought it was a no-no to say the C-word to any member of the Eagles’ fans base, Mr. Strong showed up to bring dignity back to the name ‘Carson’. Injuries really scare teams off, because, had it not been for a knee issue that he’s dealt with since his days as a prep star, Strong would have, no doubt, heard his name called during some point of the most recent NFL Draft.

The Birds added Carson to their nest as a member of their 2022 rookie undrafted free agent class, giving him a fully guaranteed signing bonus of $320,000. That’s a nice chunk of change for a guy that will begin his career at the bottom of the team’s depth chart. Then again, there’s another way that this could be viewed.

That’s a pretty good indication of how the franchise values him.

Make no mistake about it. This is still Jalen Hurts’ team, but all roads traveled by Gardner Minshew will eventually lead him elsewhere, whether that be as part of a trade package or free agency during the next NFL offseason.

Carson Strong figures to be around, and though he’ll be Philly’s third-string quarterback come September (sorry Reid Sinnett), he’ll be the second-stringer by year two or maybe even earlier if Gardner Minshew is shipped off to another NFL franchise.
