The Philadelphia Eagles have assembled a nice group of rookies, both drafted and undrafted.

Five new Eagles were added to the nest during the 2022 NFL Draft. 12 undrafted free agents followed shortly after the close of the selection meeting. Here’s a quick refresher.

The 2022 Philadelphia Eagles draft class

  • Round 1, pick 13 -defensive tackle Jordan Davis
  • Round 2, pick 51 – center Cam Jurgens
  • Round 3, pick 83 – linebacker Nakobe Dean
  • Round 6, pick 181 – EDGE Kyron Johnson
  • Round 6, pick 198 – tight end Grant Calcaterra

Philly’s 2022 undrafted rookie free agent class

  • Quarterback Carson Strong (Nevada Wolf Pack)
  • Cornerback Josh Blackwell (Duke Blue Devils)
  • Cornerback Josh Jobe (Alabama Crimson Tide)
  • Cornerback Mario Goodrich (Clemson Tigers)
  • Defensive tackle Noah Elliss (Idaho Vandals)
  • Guard William Dunkle (San Diego State Aztexs)
  • Guard Josh Sills (Oklahoma State Cowboys)
  • Linebacker Ali Fayad (Western Michigan Broncos)
  • Offensive tackle Jarrid Williams (Miami Hurricanes)
  • Running back Kennedy Brooks (Oklahoma Sooners)
  • Safety Reed Blakenship (Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders)
  • Wide receiver Britain Covey (Utah Utes)

Worth mentioning: Perhaps the biggest steal of the entire draft, landing Nakobe Dean in Round 3 was a huge coup for this team. That’s something we might discuss long after he’s done playing if he reaches his potential and stays healthy.

This is a great-looking draft class. This might also be the most impressive undrafted rookie free-agent class that they’ve landed.

Best battles

Keep an eye on the 12 cornerbacks invited to camp. We know Darius Slay, James Bradberry, and Avonte Maddox will make the team. Things could get interesting as the other nine guys are competing for what might be three spots on the 53-man roster.

Also, keep an eye on what goes on with the tight ends and wide receivers. There are no definite answers there once you get past the starters, and even though the linebacker corps may be approaching gridlock, that competition should be fun to watch. Some very talented players are going to be left off of this roster.
