We expect to discuss the Philadelphia Eagles’ defense early and often in 2022.

Looking around the NovaCare Complex and glancing at the Philadelphia Eagles‘ roster every now and then, most of the faces and names are familiar. Fletcher Cox is still here as are Brandon Graham and Javon Hargrave, but this could be the swan song for all three. We’ll see what happens, but none of those guys are signed past this season.

There have also been a ton of additions to the Philadelphia Eagles roster, particularly on defense. Those are the guys that we can’t stop discussing.

Since March, the Birds have added several high-profile guys to the nest via acquisitions and the most recent NFL Draft. Haason Reddick, James Bradberry, Nakobe Dean, and Jordan Davis come to mind. There were also some undervalued signings that occurred, Kyzir White and Jaquiski Tartt for instance.

Philly has a favorable schedule, with road games versus the Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, and Chicago Bears. Games that figure to be more difficult tests will be played in the friendly confines of Lincoln Financial Field: Week 2 versus the Minnesota Vikings, Week 8 versus the Pittsburgh Steelers, Week 12 versus the Green Bay Packers, and Week 13 versus the Tennessee Titans.

This could be a special season. It’s an 18-week, 17-game marathon. The defense will play a huge role in telling the tale. Here are a handful of checkpoints on the roadmap to their success.
