Well, that was a scorcher! The Philadelphia Eagles‘ sixth practice of training camp was also the hottest. Temperatures eclipsed 90 degrees, but it must have felt like 100. That’s okay! There’s work to be done.

This one doubled as the longest session so far, one hour and 45 minutes to be exact. There were highlight-reel moments, Jalen Reagor beating James Bradberry for a touchdown for instance, but for the most part, the defense won the day.

Those ebbs and flows are expected. Head coach Nick Sirianni said that you want to see them. We agree. In terms of injuries, there’s much to discuss. Here are a few updates.

Two linemen sit out. Devonta Smith is sidleined.

Let’s start with some good news. Zach Pascal returned to practice albeit in a limited capacity following a bout with food poisoning. He missed each of the first five sessions, so seeing him was a positive sign. It was also nice to see Milton Williams return after missing a single practice.

That brings us to the offensive line. The top two left tackles on the depth chart, Jordan Mailata and Andre Dillard, sat out due to concussion issues. According to Coach Sirianni (he addressed this during his post-practice presser), both occurred on Tuesday. He was unable to give a determination on when they were suffered or what caused them though.

Here’s a quote:

"I don’t know the exact play it happened on either of them and neither of the guys were able to say the exact play… It’s obviously football and there’s collisions and there’s no more collisions than the o- and d-line have, right? That’s why they’re wearing the guardian caps because they have the most collisions… We’re not live, but the o-line and d-line are live every single play… So I don’t know exactly how it happened and, like I said, they don’t either, but obviously, we’ll be very cautious with those guys"

In addition, undrafted rookie tight end Grant Calcaterra sat out as he continues to recover from a hamstring issue he suffered during this past weekend. Mac McCain sat out with a knee issue.  Greg Ward was inactive as he’s dealing with a toe issue.

Here’s something else of note. DeVonta Smith is dealing with a groin issue and has been listed as ‘day-to-day’. He sat out of the sixth practice as well. J.J. Arcega-Whiteside and Deon Cain made trips to the medical tent as well. We asked around. No one seems to know what happened there. Don’t worry. We’ll keep you posted.

In terms of Smith, there’s no need to worry. Coach Sirianni stated that his absence was a precautionary measure, but trust and believe his absence will be monitored over the next few days.
