Expect a few Eagles enthusiasts to be in front of a television for the first preseason game.

We made it! Philadelphia Eagles football is back, and for the third time in about 380 days, when they take the field, the New York Jets will be the team standing on the other sideline. That isn’t the litmus test we’ve been hoping for to see where this team is, but we’ll take it.

Philly met Gang Green twice a year ago, in Week 3 of the preseason. That one turned out to be a wildly entertaining 31-31 tie. They met again in Week 13 of the regular season.

Gardner Minshew stepped in for an injured Jalen Hurts in that one and led the Birds to a 33-18 victory. He and Reid Sinnett will get extended playing time in this one. Pay attention to all of the rookies and bubble players as well. Here are some names that stand out.

Britain Covey, wide receiver. 18. player. 54. . .

Mention bubble players who actually have a shot at making the roster, and Britain Covey‘s name will be one of the first that is mentioned. He’s also a rookie. We didn’t talk about him a ton at the start of camp, but once he got settled in and got comfortable, that changed in a hurry.

He’s shown hands that fellow rookie Devon Allen has yet to display. He’s shown confidence as a returner that we’ve rarely seen from Jalen Reagor. Game one will allow an opportunity to see how he fares versus foreign competition.
