Jason Kelce lands at Number 71 on NFL Network’s Top 100 Players list
Well, this is just confirmation of what Philadelphia Eagles fans have known for a long, long time. That Jason Kelce fella is pretty doggone good. As is customary every year, pro football’s preseason has brought with it another Top 100 Players ranking by NFL Network, a ranking of the game’s elite comprised totally of the votes of players.
One of the best and most beloved Birds of all time has again found his way onto the list (even though we think he’s ranked too low).
Perhaps we’re being biased when it comes to Eagles legend Jason Kelce.
Come on. 71 is too low, right? At the close of the 2021-2022 Eagles season, Kelce put a bow on another year in the NFL (all of which have been played in an Eagles jersey) and a 122nd-consecutive start. That’s hard enough to do, but even though pro football will always be a team game, it’s hard to overlook what Jason Kelce does individually, even though he never shines a spotlight on himself.
The resume is without question one most NFL stars would kill for: four First-team All-Pro nods (2017–2019 and 2021) and five trips to the Pro Bowl (2014, 2016, and 2019–2021). He’s also firmly placed in the history books as the anchor of an Eagles offensive line that paved the way to the Eagles’ first Super Bowl. Not bad for a former sixth-rounder that many wrote off because he was considered to be too small, right?
Jason Kelce has played for Andy Reid, Chip Kelly, Doug Pederson, and Nick Sirianni. He’s a future Pro Football Hall of Famer. There will never be another. Yeah, we demand a recount of the votes.
Maybe there are 70 players in the NFL that are better than Jason Kelce, but it’s hard to imagine that being the case.
