Winners, game balls following Eagles, Browns preseason game
Two preseason games are in our rearview mirror and several Eagles deserve a game ball.
We knew we’d get extended looks at the second-team offense and defense during the Philadelphia Eagles‘ second preseason game. We like what we saw from the offense. As far as that defensive performance in the first half goes, let’s just put it this way.
We still have a couple of joint practices versus the Miami Dolphins and one final preseason game to evaluate, so even though, there were too many missed tackles, we know Jonathan Gannon’s guys were running a vanilla scheme. We won’t bash them too much. Plus, many of the guys that played in this one won’t be on the 53-man roster. Gardner Minshew, however, will be.
Gardner Minshew, quarterback
As mentioned earlier, we expected to see a lot of Gardner Minshew, and he had as good a day as you can ask for. Sure, there were a few tosses that could have been picked off and taken in the other direction, but they weren’t. Overall, Gardner made sound and quick decisions.
Once his day was over, he had completed 14 of 17 passes for 142 yards. That gave him a rating of 101.5 on the day. That isn’t a bad day at the office. Give him a game ball, along with a few of his teammates. Here are the names of a few Birds that were deserving of mention.
