On the Tuesday following the Philadelphia Eagles’ final preseason game, a snoozer versus the Miami Dolphins, as expected, the announcement of an initial 53-man roster came at 4 p.m. EST time. The work didn’t end there, nor was that the only highlight of a very busy day.

Philadelphia also orchestrated a trade that sent two late-round draft picks to the New Orleans Saints in exchange for Chauncey Gardner-Johnson. There were a few other surprises on the day as well. Some were caught off guard by the news that everyone should expect a trade that would ship Jalen Reagor off. Then, they were caught off guard again by the news that no trade was coming. As most expected, when the regular-season roster was introduced, Jalen Reagor had, indeed, made the team.

The work was only beginning. Teams are now combing through the waiver wire. They can begin forming a 16-man practice squad on Wednesday, August 31st at 12 p.m. EST.

The NFL is truly a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week, 365-day-a-year business. We move on to discussions about the formation of a practice squad before the attention turns completely to Week 1’s game versus the Detroit Lions.

Bookmark this one as news and rumors leading up to the announcement of the Philadelphia Eagles’  2022 practice squad will be added here.

Following the introduction of the initial Philadelphia Eagles 53-man roster and every NFL team’s opportunity to peruse the waiver wire and make any additions there if they choose to, 16 men will be added to their practice squad.

Rumors and theories abound, but for those of you who believed Marlon Mack was an option at the running back position because he had ties to head coach Nick Sirianni, there seemingly won’t be a pursuit for his services. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, he’s staying with the Houston Texans.

The Eagles have announced that they’re signing Cameron Tom. Thank Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network for the update.

According to multiple sources, the Eagles have claimed quarterback Ian Book from the waiver wire. They had two players claimed by other teams: cornerback Josh Blackwell (Chicago Bears) and offensive lineman Jack Anderson (New York Giants).

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that the Eagles are bringing back a few familiar faces.

Rumor has it that Anthony Harris may also return as a member of the Eagles’ practice squad.

La’Mical Perine joins the Birds as well.

Update (3:30 p.m. EST on August 31st): It’s official. Anthony Harris is back on the practice squad. Here’s an update on who’s on the unit as of 3:30 p.m. EST.

Update (September 5th): The Eagles release Anthony Harris from the practice squad and replace him with Mac McCain.

The Eagles shuffle the deck again by adding tight end Dalton Keene and wide receiver Auden Tate. Running back La’Mical Perine and Reid Sinnett.

Stay tuned. More updates are on the way.
