Ahead of Week 1’s game versus the Detroit Lions, the Philadelphia Eagles have listed six players on the inactives list as healthy scratches. News broke at about 11:30 AM EST by way of an official team report. Here’s a quick rundown.

Ian Book, the third quarterback on the depth chart, will sit this one out, as will rookie safety Reed Blankenship, running back Trey Sermon, rookie guard Josh Sills, second-year defensive end Tarron Jackson, and rookie tight end Grant Calcaterra.

The Philadelphia Eagles hope to open the 2022-2023 NFL season with a victory in the Motor City versus Detroit.

In Calcaterra’s place, we may get an in-game look at fellow rookie tight end Noah Togiai. He was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday’s game as was fellow rookie wide receiver/return specialist Britain Covey. The expectation is that Covey will return punts in this one. Third-year wide receiver Quez Watkins is expected to perform double-duty as the team’s kick returner.

The Lions are dealing with a few injuries. It appears that the Birds are relatively healthy. Let’s hope Week 1’s game brings the desired result, a checkmark in the win column and a 1-0 start for the Philadelphia Eagles to begin the new NFL season.
