Here’s one last deep dive on Jalen Hurts’ first game of the NFL season.

One game is in the books. No one truly knew what to expect. Some were even calling for a Philadelphia Eagles upset. Fortunately, that didn’t happen, but that doesn’t mean Philly’s Week 1 victory lacked a few stressful moments, highlight-reel moments, and some memorable tosses and scrambles from QB1 Jalen Hurts.

Sure, no one wants to see the quarterback put himself in harm’s way, but the goal was to escape the first test of the season with a win in hostile territory. Give the Birds a tip of the cap for making that happen.

Jalen Hurts finished with 18 completions on 32 passing attempts for 243 yards. That resulted in a quarterback rating of 80.6 and a QBR of 64.3. He also added 90 yards and a rushing touchdown on 17 carries. The improvisation was fun to watch. So was the connection between him and A.J. Brown. Let’s talk about some of the throws.

Best throws

This one might be one for the ‘obvious’ category. While QB1 stood in the pocket and delivered the ball with tremendous accuracy on several plays, one toss has been on everyone’s mind since it happened. Take a look.

These are the moments that decide games, and this one helped determined the outcome. This was a third-down toss that could have led to a punt had it not been completed. Philly scored on a Jake Elliott field goal four plays later, and if you haven’t noticed, three points was the margin of victory.
