Part of the beauty of loving Philadelphia Eagles football is the NFL’s regular season doesn’t give you a ton of time to celebrate a win or get too low after a loss. Of course, there are exceptions. If you’re a fan of the Cleveland Browns or the Baltimore Ravens (who were also once the Cleveland Browns), we can understand why you’re frustrated. Trust us. We get it. It has to be hard to make guesses on what needs to be done following devastating losses.

Oh well. Hang in there guys! Hopefully, the bounce-back comes in a week or less.

Meanwhile, everything is all good in Philly following a 24-7 win over the Minnesota Vikings. The next step on the Birds’ journey is the first of their annual pair of meetings with their age-old rivals, the Washington Commanders in Week 3.

This time, there’s a twist. Stop us if you’ve heard this before, but there’s a familiar face standing on the other sideline. Washington is led on offense by their QB1 of the moment, former Eagles franchise signal-caller Carson Wentz.

Eagles vs Commanders Odds Week 3

According to FanDuel, the Eagles are favored by 6.5 points. The moneyline sits at -290 for Philadelphia and +184 for Washington. The over/under is set at 50.5 points.

Both teams enter this contest looking for the always-important divisional win. The Birds are continuing to build momentum following their 24-7 victory on Monday Night Football. The Commanders are looking to bounce back following their loss to the always-scrappy Detroit Lions.

Eagles vs Commanders Prediction Week 3

We’ve seen former Eagles quarterbacks line up under center for Washington before. Sonny Jurgensen won the NFL Championship in 1960 with Philadelphia during a seven-year run in the City of Brotherly Love before finishing his career in our nation’s capital. There was also Donovan McNabb.

Number 5 won in his homecoming at Lincoln Finacial Field before winding up on the wrong end of the Monday Night Massacre, Michael Vick’s shining moment as Philly’s starting quarterback. The coming game versus Carson Wentz feels more personal though, doesn’t it?

Maybe it’s about unmet expectations. Maybe people lost respect for him after he lost his job to Jalen Hurts and then forced his way out of town because he didn’t want to compete to earn it back. Whatever theory you prescribe to, there’s a lot of emotion surrounding this one even if we’re certain to hear that this is ‘just another game’ from all parties involved.

Wentz’s return to Philadelphia isn’t for about four more weeks, but that won’t make this meeting any less intense. Expect the emotion of this one to fuel an Eagles win. Sure, Carson should be pumped up as well, but he may not be talented enough to back up what he’s feeling. History has taught us time and time again that he lacks the ‘clutch’ gene.

We’re banking on an Eagles victory and a 3-0 start. Take the points as we believe the Birds will win by a touchdown or more. Final score: Philadelphia 34, Washington 24
