It’s a marathon, not a sprint. With three weeks of the 2022-2023 NFL regular season in our rear-view mirrors, two things are obvious. First, it feels like so much has happened and that we know a lot more about this Philadelphia Eagles team than we did a month or so ago. Second, we aren’t even seen a quarter of the way towards reaching the finish line.

As fun as it’s been, especially over these past two weeks, there’s still work to do. Week 18’s version of the Eagles is going to look much different than Week 3’s iteration. The next step of the journey is another home date. Philadelphia welcomes another familiar face, Doug Pederson, and he’s bringing the Jacksonville Jaguars, his new team, with him.

Something tells us that there will be fireworks. Don’t be shocked if this is the toughest challenge and opponent that the Eagles have seen all season.

Eagles vs Commanders Odds Week 4

According to FanDuel, the Eagles are seven-point favorites. Philadelphia’s moneyline sits at -320 compared to +260 for Jacksonville. The over/under has been set at 47 points.

Eagles vs Commanders Prediction Week 4

Doug Pederson is the only man that has ever walked who can state that he led the Eagles to a Super Bowl victory and the Vince Lombardi Trophy as their head coach. So far, his arrival in Duval County has been exactly what a struggling franchise needed. He’s been just what the doctor ordered.

The Jags have earned two wins in their first three games. They sit alone atop the AFC South. It’s probably too early to begin discussing the postseason, but why not? Jacksonville has no intention of earning the first-overall selection again.

Meanwhile, in the City of Brotherly Love, the Eagles’ record is unblemished after three games with each victory seemingly making them look more impressive than the last. With all due respect to the Jags. though they’re improving, only one of these teams, Philly, is expected to make a playoff run.

If we’re right about that, which we believe we are, these are the games that a great team is supposed to win. A raucous home crowd will help keep the home team energized. Following an emotional and impressive road win by the Jaguars, asking them to play at that same level in consecutive weeks might be too big of an ask for a young team.

We’re taking the Birds. We expect them to improve to 4-0 on the season. Final score: Philadelphia 34, Jacksonville 24
