Eagles vs Jaguars: Darius Slay, Jordan Mailata sidelined with injuries
Week 4’s game hasn’t gotten off to the start that many would like. With one quarter into the books, the Philadelphia Eagles have spotted the Jacksonville Jaguars a 14-0 start. Jalen Hurts has thrown his first pick-six of the season. The weather hasn’t assisted in helping the Birds gain any traction, and to make matters worse, they’re forced to gi the remainder of this one without some of their best players as guys are dropping like flies.
All-world cornerback Darius Slay (forearm), and starting left tackle Jordan Mailata (shoulder) have both left the game with injuries. Both are questionable to return. This attempt to ruin Doug Pederson’s homecoming isn’t going as planned.
The Eagles continue to stack guys on the medical table. Thankfully, the Birds have depth.
Philly entered the game knowing they’d be without both Avonte Maddox and Boston Scott. Losing both Slay and Mailata is tough, but that’s why teams build rosters that house depth. Zech McPhearson is in the game to take Darius Slay’s place. Jack Driscoll is in at left tackle for Mailata.
Jalen Hurts has since scored on a QB keeper to narrow the margin to seven points (14-7). There’s still much of the first half and the entire second half remaining. To make long stories short, it isn’t time to throw the towel in yet, but the Eagles have a huge hill to climb if they’re going to turn Week 4’s game around and find themselves in ownership of a 4-0 record to begin the 2022-2023 regular-season campaign.
