It seems like it has been forever since a last-ditch comeback effort by Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles‘ offense fell short in their 2020 Week 15 visit to Arizona.  In Week 5 of the current NFL campaign, the Birds return to the scene of the crime.

Two teams seem to be headed in opposite directions despite neither being the owner of a losing record. The Cardinals (2-2) have their franchise quarterback, but there are questions about his work ethic and who he is as a teammate. The Birds seemingly are in a better situation with Hurts.

Believe it or not, following 121 meetings, the Cards hold a 60-56-5 lead in the series. Something tells us that Philly will put another checkmark in the win column following this one.

Eagles versus Cardinals Odds Week 5

According to FanDuel, the Eagles are favored for Week 5’s game by 5.5 points. Philadelphia’s moneyline is set at -255 compared to +210 for Arizona. The over/under is set at 49.5 points.

Eagles versus Cardinals Prediction Week 5

Prior to limiting the Baker Mayfield and an oftentimes offensively starved Carolina Panthers team to 16 points, the Cardinals’ defense had given up an average of 31 points in their first three games of the season. That includes a 44-point explosion by the Kansas City Chiefs in the season opener.

That’s a long-winded way of stating the following. Philly will have an opportunity to score points.

Trevor Lawrence and Carson Wentz are respectably mobile, but Kyler Murray is an entirely different animal. He’ll make some plays, but in the end, we like the spread and we like the point total (though we’d probably bet the over).

If the Eagles can ever master the art of the rub route and stop costing themselves by having touchdowns taken off of the board, this offense will put up even more points. Still, in the end, we believe that Philly is one of the best teams in the NFL and better at just about every position than Arizona is.

This time the Eagles will find themselves up on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter, and the Cards’ late-game comeback attempt will fall short of hitting the bullseye. Final score: Philadelphia 30, Cardinals 23
