Much of the Philadelphia Eagles roster is playing on expiring deals.

The Philadelphia Eagles have shocked the world so far this season, being the last remaining undefeated team in the NFL and not showing any signs of slowing down. A big reason for their success is the talent they’ve added to their roster this past offseason, guys like James Bradberry, A.J. Brown, and Kyzir White.

If Philly hopes to continue this success for years to come, they’ll need to hold on to some of the roster’s core. Many of their best players are signed to deals that expire at season’s end, so they figure to part ways with some great talent.

According to Over The Cap, the Philadelphia Eagles have about $16.5 million in cap space to work with. That means they have to be shrewd and, in some cases, picky about who they bring back.

The Eagles have done a good job at making an old team younger, particularly through the draft. They’ve added DeVonta Smith, Landon Dickerson, and Jordan Davis during the past two offseasons, but they also have some proven veterans that are definitely worth keeping in-house.

Some can be retained by way of a one-year ‘prove-it’ deal. Others will want long-term extensions. Regardless of the varying circumstances, we’ve identified five must-haves that must be held on to before the Birds miss out and those guys hit the open market. We begin on offense.
