The Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Texans play in primetime to kick the National Football League’s ninth week of action. The Birds are relatively healthy, and everyone’s looking around for some wood to pound on.

It’s water under the bridge now, but it wasn’t that long ago that many criticized Nick Sirianni for canceling a portion of Philly’s offseason workout program and supervising contact-free practices. Who would have thunk? He knew his team better than any of the rest of us did.

It hasn’t been an injury-free season. Four players sit on the team’s I.R. (injured reserve): defensive end Derek Barnett, defensive tackle Jordan Davis, tight end Jaeden Graham, and defensive end Janarius Robinson. Two other Birds, tight end Tyree Jackson and offensive lineman Brett Toth, sit on the PUP (the physically unable to perform list).

The Eagles activated a 21-day practice window for Jackson on October 26th, so his return may be approaching; however, he won’t be suiting up for Philly in Week 9.

Five Eagles have been deemed inactive for Week 9’s Thursday Night Football game versus the Texans.

Five Eagles have been designated as healthy scratches: quarterback Ian Book. cornerback Josiah Scott, running back Trey Sermon, and guards Sua Opeta and Josh Sills. The Houston Texans have announced their inactives as well. Their best wide receiver, Brandin Cooks, is out. Nico Collins is out as well.

They also announced the activation of tight end Teagan Quitoriano and defensive back Tavierre Thomas from the reserve/injured list as designations to return and that former Eagle Grayland Arnold has been added to their injured reserve. Wide receiver Jalen Camp and offensive lineman KC McDermott were elevated from the practice squad to the active roster.

A little over four hours ahead of kickoff, Philadelphia also announced that they were elevating defensive tackle Marvin Wilson from the practice squad to the active roster for the game.

Obviously, Fletcher Cox, Milton Williams, Javon Hargrave, and Marlon Tuipulotu will get the lion’s share of the work. Still, Wilson is talented and an excellent insurance policy should any unforeseen injuries occur.

Hopefully, Philadelphia will get through this one without suffering any, but bookmark this one. If any are announced at some point during the action, they’ll be listed below.
