Four-time Pro Bowler Darius Slay has come a long way since being on the receiving end of the first interception of Carson Wentz’s career. That was Week 5 of the 2016 season. Slay’s pick that day was also a game-ender for the Philadelphia Eagles and the Birds’ first loss that year. Several moons later, he’s on our side, and with Week 12’s game (a.k.a. Round 11) approaching, he’s turned his sights towards Aaron Rodgers, the reigning two-time NFL MVP.

Perhaps you’ve heard. Philly’s next game is in primetime. They host the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football, and Big Play wasn’t shy about discussing a personal goal.

Darius Slay wants to add Aaron Rodgers to his Mount Rushmore.

We mentioned Slay’s pick of Carson Wentz earlier. That was one of 19 interceptions that he tallied during seven seasons with the Detroit Lions. Since joining the Eagles on March 20th of 2020, he’s added nine more to bring his career tally to 26. Nothing would make him happier than picking off Rodgers, the future Hall-of-Famer, in Week 12.

Take a look:

Hey, there isn’t an Eagles fan walking that would complain if he pulled it off.

The 2022 version of Slay has seen quite a few birthdays since helping give the Eagles their first loss in 2016. A former First-Team All-Pro (2017) who led the NFL in interceptions, he’s one of the Eagles’ best players on defense and one of the best players in the game at the cornerback position.

His drive and focus are infectious. It’s hard to match his love and enthusiasm for the game. Heck, that’s probably what made him a four-time Pro Bowler in the first place. The best part is, once we put the bow on the 2022-2023 regular season, it’s quite possible we’ll be discussing his fifth.
