Round 12 is a title bout, a battle between two heavyweight prize fighters. The Philadelphia Eagles host the Tennessee Titans in Week 13. Those who have negatively mentioned the level of competition the Birds have faced will have little to complain about if Philly wins this one.

The Titans aren’t viewed as being among the NFL’s elite, but they’re more than solid and a formidable opponent. Few are predicting a Super Bowl appearance, but everyone knows what they’re capable of. They can beat any team on any given Sunday (or lose to them).

Let’s not forget. This is the same squad that earned the number one seed in the AFC last season. Talk about a fistfight in a phone booth. The Birds had better be on their A-game.

Eagles versus Titans/Oilers History

We’re a long way from the House of Pain Game. Those of you who are a little older know this. The youngsters might need a history lesson.

Once upon a time, the Tennessee Titans were the Houston Oilers. Philly never lost to that team. They were 6-0 to be exact with the House of Pain Game on Monday Night Football being one of the highlights 31 years ago in 1991.

The tide has turned however. Since the franchise moved to Tennessee in 1997, they’re 5-1 versus the Birds. The Two-Tone Blue enjoyed a brief stint as the Tennessee Oilers (1997-1998) before changing their name to the Titans in 1999. Philly’s lone win versus the Titans came on November 23rd of 2013.

Eagles versus Titans Predictions

We said the Eagles should be favored in every game moving forward, and we stand by that. FanDuel agrees, this week anyway.

Philadelphia is a 4.5-point favorite. The OVER/UNDER is set at 44.5 points. We’ll take the under. The Titans haven’t surrendered more than 20 points since edging the Las Vegas Raiders by two points (24-22) in Week 3. Prediction: Eagles 24, Titans 20
