Once the 2022-2023 NFL season wraps, the Philadelphia Eagles have a lot of decisions to make about their roster. More than 20 players are currently playing on one-year or expiring contracts. Most are doing all that they can to prove they’re worthy of extensions. Throw Javon Hargrave‘s name into that discussion.

The seven-year veteran signed a three-year $39 million deal on March 21st of 2020. Following last year’s Eagles campaign, he earned a spot on the Pro Bowl roster.

The current regular season started slowly by his standards, but he’s come on strong as of late. Philadelphia’s defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, with each passing week, has found ways to blend all of the talent he has on his side of the ball, and Javon Hargrave is proving to be one of the beneficiaries.

Javon Hargrave sets a new single-season career-high in sacks versus the Titans.

Everyone was well aware that the Eagles’ Week 13 game versus the Tennessee Titans would be a fistfight. Following the first offensive series by both sides, it was easy to see that theory was accurate. Javon Hargrave didn’t wait long to place his stamp on the postgame highlight reel.

On third and four with just under 11 minutes to play during Tennessee’s first drive, Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill dropped back to pass, and he was greeted by Mr. Hargrave.

Take a look. Appreciate the beauty.

With that takedown, Javon Hargrave is now the owner of eight sacks on the regular season. That’s a single-season personal best for him. The fact wasn’t lost on Philadelphia’s media team.

Eight sacks on the season at the time of its occurrence ties him with Haason Reddick for the team lead. Oh, and get this. There are still five games left in the season following this one. Something tells us a second straight Pro Bowl appearance might be on the horizon.
