Most of us will never know what it’s like to be in an NFL locker room or that of a traditional college football power. Jalen Hurts, QB1 of the Philadelphia Eagles, doesn’t have that problem. Placing the Alabama Crimson Tide on your football resume is one thing. Saying you were once the starting quarterback for the Oklahoma Sooners is just as impressive. As you know, while cutting his teeth at the NCAA level, Hurts called both programs home.

In an unexpected turn of events, the Eagles drafted Jalen with the 53rd overall selection, during the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. The move was widely criticized at the time, but by the looks of things, this might turn out to be one of the smartest moves Howie Roseman ever made.

Jalen Hurts is firmly entrenched as the Eagles’ starting QB moving forward. Unfortunately, his journey has hit a bit of a snag. A Week 15 injury means he figures to sit out of, at minimum, the Eagles’ Week 16 game versus the Dallas Cowboys and their home date versus the New Orleans Saints that follows in Week 17. Let’s get into some specifics.

Here’s a running list of Jalen Hurts’ injuries since entering the NFL.

It’s great to know one’s quarterback can squat 600 pounds. That’s a huge reason why the Eagles run the quarterback sneaks so well, but when you’re one of the best dual-threat offensive signal-callers in the National Football League, there is always the temptation to take off and run, which means there’s also the constant threat of injuries.

You can best believe every time Jalen Hurts takes off or takes a violent shot, Eagles fans are holding their breath. Thankfully, he’s been very durable.

Pedal Ankle (high) Sprain, Grade 3 (2018, 2021)

Jalen Hurts suffered an ankle injury during a Week 12 road loss at MetLife Stadium versus the New York Giants. He missed one game, Week 13’s battle with the New York Jets (also at MetLife).

He missed three games in 2018 with the same injury after suffering a high ankle sprain versus the Tennessee Volunteers as a member of the Crimson Tide. He missed three games in that instance.

Shoulder Strain, Sprained AC Joint (2022)

Though no one wants to see anyone get injured, Jalen’s 2022 shoulder strain is a much better diagnosis than the rumored broken collarbone some were hinting at on the Monday that followed the Eagles’ Week 15 win over the Chicago Bears.

At the time of said injury’s announcement, it was believed that he’d miss two games, but there were also theories that he would have been able to play in Week 16 versus the Dallas Cowboys had that game been a must-win.

2023 Knee injury (extent and cause unknown)

After seven weeks of the 2023 NFL season, Jalen Hurts is dealing with a knee injury. He played in the second half of Philly's prime time affair versus the Miami Dolphins but wore a brace.

Reports state that he wasn't injured in the game, that he had aggravated something weeks earlier, but this hasn't keep him out of the lineup as of now. He played on the following week's game versus the Washington Commanders.
