No Jalen Hurts… No problem. There’s been no hitch in the giddy-up of the Philadelphia Eagles. All we need from Jalen is to rest, recuperate, and get himself ready to return to the lineup. In the meantime, ‘Gardner Minshew Mania’ seemingly rolls off of everyone’s tongue as frequently as ‘Go Birds’ and ‘Dallas sucks’. Philly’s QB1 of the moment is good enough to get the job done versus the hated Dallas Cowboys. That’s been the narrative. Fortunately, he doesn’t have to tackle the task alone.

The Birds enter Week 16’s Christmas Eve clash with eight Pro Bowlers (and nine alternates). Every single one of them is active for this one. Rookie Reed Blankenship, after suffering a knee injury versus the New York Giants, is back and active. That will provide reinforcements at the safety position. That was one of a few updates we were given about the Eagles roster on Friday.

Eagles versus Cowboys inactives: Zach Pascal clears concussion protocol.

Zach Pascal is active. He has cleared the concussion protocol, and he will play. That’s great news.

Punter Brett Kern was elevated from the practice squad to the active roster for this one. Linebacker/special-teamer Christian Elliss has already been elevated the maximum amount of times (three), so he’s also now been added to the active roster.

To make room, tight end Tyree Jackson was placed on injured reserve. Philadelphia released their inactives list 90 minutes before kickoff.

  • Jalen Hurts, QB
  • Trey Sermon, running back
  • Kyron Johnson, linebacker
  • Josh Sills, guard
  • Sua Opeta, guard

In Jalen’s absence, Ian Book is now the second QB on Philly’s depth chart, and if Hurts is forced to miss time again in Week 17 versus the New Orleans Saints, which appears to be a possibility, that could be the scenario next week as well. This is the first time that Book has been active this season.

1st half updates:

Milton Williams left the game early but returned after a trip to the medical tent. Avonte Maddox left during the second quarter after earning a sack on Dak Prescott. He limped to the locker room minus a shoe during the second quarter. He is questionable to return.

Jordan Davis was injured after colliding with a teammate. He was evaluated for a head injury. Neither Davis nor Maddox returned to the game after halftime. Lane Johnson limped off of the field during Philadelphia’s final drive.  Fingers are crossed that they’re okay.
