We could all use some good news right now, whether that be because your mind is still on Dumar Hamlin or because you’re trying to focus on football and you’re worried about the two-game losing streak that the Philadelphia Eagles are currently enduring. Fortunately, on Wednesday, we were allowed to place check marks in both boxes.

Jordon Rooney is Hamlin’s marketing representative and longtime friend. He told ESPN that doctors received promising readings on Wednesday morning and that medical professionals were “seeing what they were looking for” in terms of his progress. That’s great news, and we’re happy to be able to report it.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni spoke with members of the media on Wednesday, and even though he didn’t provide any new information on whether Jalen Hurts will return to the starting lineup for Philadelphia’s regular-season finale versus the New York Giants, he did provide an update on another of the team’s injured stars.

Chauncey Gardner-Johnson returns to Eagles practice on Wednesday.

We heard it straight from the source. According to Nick Sirianni, Chauncey Gardner-Johnson a.k.a. C.J. and Robert Quinn will have their practice windows opened on January 4th. While this is good news, it doesn’t guarantee that they’ll make an appearance in Sunday’s game. This is however a good sign as they have been on the team’s injured reserve since December 3rd.

C.J.’s name was added to the I.R. after he sustained a kidney injury during Week 12’s game versus the Green Bay Packers. He’s missed the Eagles’ last five games as a result. Robert Quinn was added to the I.R. three days later on December 6th.

Having a 21-day practice window opened means Philly can elevate them from the I.R. to the active roster at any point during that time. If they choose not to, they will return to the injured reserve where they’ll remain until the end of the season.

Things are looking up. The Eagles will release their first injury report of Week 18 later today. Bookmark this one. We’ll add it once it becomes available.

Update: At 2:21 p.m. EST on January 4th, the announcement came that C. J. Gardner-Johnson, Robert Quinn, and Brett Toth’s practice windows are now open.

Update: The Eagles released their first injury report for Week 18 on Thursday. Here’s a look.
