Eagles hilariously troll Cowboys one last time ahead of Super Bowl
By Josh Paredes
The Philadelphia Eagles are headed to their first Super Bowl since the 2017 season, and their elite social media team is enjoying the ride.
With a dominant 31-7 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday afternoon, Philadelphia is now one win away from securing their second Super Bowl championship in seven years. The 2022 NFL Playoffs mark the first time the Eagles have made it out of the Wild Card round since the 2018 playoffs, but that streak is nothing compared to one that continued for their longtime rivals down south.
While the Dallas Cowboys had yet another relatively successful regular season with a 12-5 record, they predictably folded when it mattered most in their Wild Card round last weekend. As a result, their streak of not making it to the conference championship game extended to 27 years, dating back to their Super Bowl win in 1995. Needless to say, it’s been a historically bad streak.
The Eagles troll the Dallas Cowboys one last time before Super Bowl LVII
The Philadelphia Eagles obviously have bigger fish to fry in a couple of weeks in the form of Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Still, whenever there’s a clever way to troll the Cowboys and their fans, the Eagles are going to do so 10 times out of 10.
Sharing a video of tight end Dallas Goedert celebrating on the field after the Eagles clinched the NFC East Championship, they took a subtle shot at their underperforming counterparts.
“Dallas is headed to the Super Bowl,” said the Instagram caption.
Obviously, the caption makes sense given his name, but I think it’s obvious what the Eagles’ social team was doing here. “That’s the only context Cowboys fans will ever hear that sentence,” said one comment, which is up to 1,400 likes and counting. You can see the Instagram post from the Eagles here if you’d like to share your thoughts (or watch Dallas Goedert doing the floss dance).
It’s too bad Dallas couldn’t even get out of the Wild Card round so the Eagles could’ve escorted them home personally, but this will have to do.
