Eagles free agency: One player worth adding from every NFC Team
The NFC West is home to a nice pool of talent that could interest the Eagles.
The Eagles got a Bird’s eye view of the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals in 2022 (pun intended). The L.A. Rams and Seattle Seahawks are two of their road opponents in 2023. All four franchises are home to players that could help improve Philadelphia’s roster.
Zach Allen, defensive tackle, Arizona Cardinals
Zach Allen is an ascending star that racked up 11.5 sacks over the past three seasons. He’s learned a lot from J.J. Watt during his career, and with so many elite interior defensive linemen dipping their toe in free agency’s pool, this six-foot-four, 281-pound stud could be one of the more attractive possibilities once we move past the first wave of free agency.
Don’t be shocked if he gets the franchise tag though.
Taylor Rapp, safety, Los Angeles Rams
We’ve had our eyes on A’Shawn Robinson as of late, but he can’t stay healthy. He’s also guilty of underperforming when he has been available. Truthfully, we don’t like most of the L.A. Rams’ free agents, but if we had to pick one, we’d go with safety Taylor Rapp.
He showed some versatility for the Rams. He also proved that, while he has many talents, he isn’t great at anything. We trust Philly’s defensive backs coaches, Dennard Wilson and D.K. McDonald. We also believe they could get the best out of Rapp.
Charles Omenihu, EDGE, San Francisco 49ers
Charles Omenihu has served both the Houston Texans and the Niners well as a rotational player thus far in his career. Last season with San Francisco, he played very well, racking up 4.5 sacks and 16 additional quarterback hits. He may have earned himself some money this offseason, but there’s also the chance that Philly could get him at a discount.
Poona Ford, EDGE, Seattle Seahawks
Truthfully, there will be better EDGE options for the Eagles in free agency’s pool than Poona Ford, but if they’re looking for a decent mix of talent and cost-effectiveness, this is someone that could be worth their attention.
Other decent options from the Seahawks would include running back Rashaad Penny, safety Jonathan Abram, and backup quarterback Drew Lock. Philly may have an interest in a few of these players. They may not have any interest in any of them, but we’ll have to wait and see. As always, an interesting frenzy appears to be looming.
