Eagles free agency: One player worth poaching from every AFC team
The AFC West is home to the Super Bowl champions and three of their fiercest rivals.
If you’re looking for an AFC comp to the bad blood that exists between the Eagles and their rivals in the NFC East, look no further than what goes on between the AFC North and AFC West.
These teams don’t like each other. We at Inside The Iggles like players on all four rosters. Here are four guys we’d like to see in midnight/kelly green next season.
Dre’Mont Jones, EDGE, Denver Broncos
We read once that Dalton Risner’s contract projection/market value hovers around the three-year/$22.5-million range. We feel like we’d love to take Risner for a little over $7 million per year, but our friends at Predominantly Orange don’t seem to like him that much, so we’ll steer clear.
Instead, we’ll rock out with Dre’Mont Jones. Hey, we could use an EDGE guy in Philly, right? Jones racked 47 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and ten additional quarterback hits in just 13 games last season.
Juan Thornhill, safety, Kansas City Chiefs
Juan Thornhill’s career, so far, hasn’t been one denoted by consistency. Occasionally, there’s a coverage lapse or something worse, like a missed tackle at the wrong time, but he showed improvement for the Chiefs as the season went on.
That culminated in some nice showings during the postseason and, maybe, a new lease on life somewhere else. He could be solid and consistently above average with proper coaching.
Josh Jacobs, running back, Las Vegas Raiders
Well, you had to know that this was coming. There’s a chance that the Eagles could lose both Miles Sanders and Boston Scott this offseason, and with all due respect to both, if Philly landed Josh Jacobs, it’s doubtful that most of the fan base would bat an eyelash.
Drue Tranquill, linebacker, Los Angeles Chargers
Drue Tranquill is a six-foot-two, 234-pound tackling machine. Last season was his first as a starter. He tallied 146 total stops as an off-ball backer.
We’d rank him behind T.J. Edwards in overall talent but slightly ahead of Kyzir White. Might he be someone the Eagles consider swapping in for one or the other?
Only time will tell. Stay tuned.
