Chris Johnson is without question the valedictorian of this class of 40-yard dash legends.

At the 2008 NFL Combine, Chris Johnson blew his competition out of the water by posting a blazing 4.24-second showing in the 40-yard dash event. There’s no surprise here. He was a track star at Olympia High School in Orlando, Florida.

Johnson was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft following a great career at East Carolina University.

Before Derrick Henry was a monster and a star in the Tennessee Titans rushing game, Chris Johnson continued a franchise legacy that included Earl Campbell and Eddie George. CJ2K was a home-run hitter for the Two-Tone Blue for six seasons.

During that time, he notched 7,965 rushing yards with 50 touchdowns and added 2,003 yards with eight touchdowns as a receiver. He eclipsed 1,000 yards rushing during all six of his seasons in a Titans uniform and landed in the exclusive 2000-yard club in 2009. Only eight other running backs in history have earned that same distinction, including Derrick Henry.

Johnson’s 2,509 yards from scrimmage in 2009 are still an NFL record. During his outstanding run in Nashville, he was named NFL Offensive Player of the Year (2009). He also earned three Pro Bowl nods, a spot on the PFWA All-Rookie Team (2008), and First-Team All-Pro honors in 2009.

He would leave the Titans after the 2013 season and go on to play four more seasons with the New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals.
