We’ve reached NFL Combine week. Will the Philadelphia Eagles find themselves attending with their new defensive coordinator in tow? That’s a question that inquiring minds are asking. Sadly, at the time of this story’s release, we don’t have that answer, but it does appear that we’re getting close.

If you’re keeping track, Monday was a busy day at the NovaCare Complex as one candidate returned for a second interview and another was taken off of Philly’s shortening list. Here’s an update.

The Eagles are showing an increased interest in Sean Desai, but Glenn Schumann is no longer a candidate for their defensive coordinator vacancy.

With two Georgia Bulldogs currently on the Philadelphia Eagles roster and theories surfacing that they might add a third, it would have been interesting to have been a fly on the wall to hear what UGA co-defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann would have had to say about what he can do with all of this talent that Philly has. Reportedly, he can now be taken out of the running though.

ESPN’s Chris Low reports Schumann will return to Athens for his eighth season on the Dawgs’ coaching staff. That’s good news for them. Remember that they had already lost their offensive coordinator Todd Monken to NFL as he’ll now man the Baltimore Ravens’ controls on offense.

Meanwhile, Philly, an organization that is famous league-wide for its extensive interview process, invited Sean Desai back for a second discussion about their vacant defensive coordinator position on Monday.  He’s currently the Seattle Seahawks associate head coach and a defensive assistant. Prior to that, he was with the Chicago Bears from 2013 to 2021.

Keep those antennas tuned to the Eagles’ frequency. Dennard Wilson remains a hot topic and has the support of the players on his unit. We could be hearing the announcement of a new D.C. very soon.
