Many of the current Eagles defenders showed those quick feet off when they participated in the NFL Combine.

The Philadelphia Eagles‘ offense is known for its speed, but hey, they are no slouches on the defensive side of the ball. Even the big guys can ‘pick them up and put them down’. We recently looked at some of Philly’s offensive stars and what they did during their respective NFL Combines when it was their time to run the always-popular 40-yard dash. It seems only fair that we take some time and give the defense some shine.

Philly’s roster is loaded with stars, but before they were so, they were asked to impress pro scouts during the NFL’s largest scouting event with their quickness. It really shouldn’t be too surprising that the speed you see on the Eagles’ defense has long been evident. Guys don’t just get double-digit sacks simply because they’re strong.

The open-field tackles… the interceptions… Sometimes, it’s all about reading, reacting, and quickness. It’s so much easier to stay glued to wide receivers if the secondary has some speedsters who have the I.Q. to be in the right position.

Philly’s linebackers can burn. So can some of their defensive linemen. Let’s look at how Philadelphia’s defenders did when it was their turn to run the 40-yard dash.
