The Eagles are no-doubt perusing some inexpensive free-agent options, but there are several players they should avoid altogether.

The dawn of a new league year approaches, and if you haven’t heard, the Philadelphia Eagles aren’t expected to be huge players on the free-agent market. The money simply won’t be there like it was during the last offseason. That doesn’t mean they won’t bring in any playmakers. They’ve been known to do a lot with less.

General manager Howie Roseman always seems to pull something out of the hat, often securing those targets that no one knew he was interested in. His ingenuity always allows Philly to be competitive and, more often than not, pushes them forward in a positive direction.

How competitive Philly can be on the open market is in question, but a couple of restructures and a little magic will free some cap space and, hopefully, place them into a position to add a big fish or two.

Don’t expect them to fill every hole on the roster through free agency. They have six draft picks and may be willing to barter one or two to add more ahead of the next selection meeting. Either way, we should see some fresh faces and maybe one or two game-changing playmakers.

One team that did this last year was the Kansas City Chiefs. They rebuilt their secondary and defense through the Draft. It worked pretty well for them. There is no reason Philadelphia can’t do the same.

The Birds will definitely look at the free-agent market to strengthen their team some, but let’s look at three players they should avoid altogether.
