Nothing connects and divides Philadelphia Eagles fans faster than roster discussions. Debates differ in their tone and intensity, but every argument normally stems from the same issue… talent evaluations. To make long stories shorter, well, let’s just say it’s hard to figure out what people are looking at sometimes and how they arrive at their diagnoses.

At various points in our 16-year history, many moons ago, Inside The Iggles was among the first Eagles enthusiast to abandon the Nelson Agholor and Jason Peters trains. We also told you that Carson Wentz wasn’t built to play in Philadelphia. Many of you were angry but eventually arrived at the same exit we did albeit many months later. That brings us to Darius Slay.

On the first day of the new league year, there were rumblings that Philadelphia is expected to announce the five-time Pro Bowler would be released. Wouldn’t you know it? That one seemed to split the fan base in half. That’s to be expected, but things got a tad stranger once we arrived in the early evening on Wednesday.

The Eagles STILL hadn’t announced Darius Slay’s release. Then, as the midnight hour approached, a return was announced.

Eagles news: Here’s a recap of an emotional day for Darius Slay (and the rest of us).

Many of you who enjoy spending your time on social media probably learned very quickly that, when hanging out on Twitter, it’s absolutely necessary to keep tabs on what Big Play is doing.

Following the news of his expected release, the five-time Pro Bowler spent his days joking with fans, complaining about one of JAKIB Sports’ mainstays, and yes, stating by way of a response tweet that he might not be done in Philly.

Then, the unexpected happened. He and Philly worked it out, and it was announced, by Slay, that he was to remain in Philly.

Take a look at some of the highlights.

Our friend Jimmy Smith even got involved.

Then, it happened. Last night, when we went to bed, this story was about Darius Slay hinting at a return. We woke up and realized we needed a revision. Here’s what happened while most of us were resting.

Slay was expected to be released with a June 1st designation. No one juggles the cap quite like Howie Roseman though. Watching this one play out was stressful for us all, but if there’s a lesson in this, we should never count chickens before they hatch. Fletcher Cox’s release and return should have taught us that last year.

Welcome back Slay! He’s back like he never left.

Hot. Eagles core four stays intact, but what about C.J.?. light
