54. . . . Nakobe Dean. 17. player

The Eagles hope their 2022 third-round draft choice can excel as he gets more playing time during the coming 2023 NFL season.

Jordan Davis wasn’t the only former Georgia Bulldogs star the Eagles selected during the 2022 NFL Draft. They also made a lot of Philly’s fans happy by selecting his teammate.

Nakobe Dean was formerly seen as a possible first-round selection, but following a lot of controversy about an injury, he slid to the Eagles as the 83rd-overall selection in Round 3. There’s hope that he proves to be a steal.

Like Davis and Jurgens, fans liked a lot of what they saw out of Dean during the preseason, but he didn’t see the field much in the regular season. He appeared in all 17 games with zero starts. He played 34 defensive snaps, three percent of the team’s total. He collected 340 special teams snaps, 75% of the overall total. He racked up 13 tackles. His seven special team tackles ranked second for Philadelphia.

Dean will most certainly be thrust into a starter’s role this year with the departures of T.J. Edwards and Kyzir White. The pressure is on Dean to account for some of the production they’ll lose by moving on from T.J. and Kyzir. We’ll see how things go on that front, but we’re hopeful he captures some of the magic he showed at Georgia.
