Eagles reportedly host Lukas Van Ness for top-30 NFL Draft visit
We’ve discussed the Philadelphia Eagles and what they should do with the tenth-overall selection so much that we, at times, have almost forgotten to mention that they own another choice, the 30th pick, at the end of Round 1. That alone should tell you how important making the right choice at ten is.
Sure, every pick is important, and this year, Philly doesn’t have a ton of draft collateral, six picks in total to be exact, but they’re most certainly doing their due diligence to ensure themselves of a home run early in Round 1.
They were busy and active at the most recent NFL Scouting Combine. They’ve been attending Pro Days. They’ve hosted several prospects at the NovaCare Complex as they navigate through top-30 visits. It appears we can add another name to the fray, Lukas Van Ness of the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Two days after Daniel Jeremiah sends Lukas Van Ness to the Eagles in his most recent NFL mock draft, the former Iowa star visits Philadelphia.
In his most recent mock draft, NFL Network analyst Daniel Jeremiah lands Lukas Van Ness in the City of Brotherly Love at the tenth-overall selection. Two days later, he posted on his Instagram story early on Thursday that he was visiting the Philadelphia Eagles today. The news was later confirmed by several sources.
The six-foot-five, 264-pound EDGE star turned heads this past season, tallying 37 tackles including 10.5 that resulted in a loss of yardage and six sacks. He earned Second-Team All-Big Ten honors for his efforts.
He’s the 15th-ranked player on Pro Football Focus’ Big Board. Also, NFL.com draft analyst Lance Zierlein gives him a grade of 6.40 in his draft profile of the former Hawkeye, meaning he’ll be a starter within two years of being drafted.
It will be interesting in seeing how he’s valued as we move through the pre-draft process before we arrive at the 2023 NFL Draft which is scheduled for the end of April.
