A busy Eagles offseason leads us to the NFL Draft and questions about whether or not a running back might actually be the choice in Round 1.

There isn’t a ton of time to breathe is there? Once the smoke cleared and the dust settled after Super Bowl LVII, the Philadelphia Eagles immediately went back to work. They didn’t have much of a choice. As the NFC’s representative in football’s biggest game, there wasn’t any time for any cooling-off periods.

Scouts were deployed to the East/West Shrine Bowl and Senior Bowl as those games were scheduled while Philly prepared for football’s biggest game. The NFL Scouting Combine, the new league year, and the free agency frenzy came next. Now, it’s all about top-30 pre-draft visits, Pro Days, and April’s draft.

The first free agency spike is over. Philly held on to as much of their veteran talent as they could. Then, they meticulously filled roster holes with youth, all the while, keeping one eye on the selection meeting scheduled for April 27th-April 29th. Many fans and members of the media are hoping Bijan Robinson or Jahmyr Gibbs wind up being the newest members of the Eagles family.

Two-time First-Team All-Big 12 star, Doak Walker Award winner, and Unanimous All-American Bijan Robinson has already visited Philly. Gibbs figures to be flown in to visit the NovaCare Complex at some point. Fans and the media have both gone back and forth about this, but the Birds are seriously considering using one of the pair of first-round draft choices on a tailback. One month ago, this would have been seen as blasphemy.

Might Robinson or Gibbs be added to the Eagles 2023 draft class? What if the draft flow takes Philly in another direction, and they aren’t? Believe it or not, there are other options. Here are the best prospects in this year’s class once we move past the top two talents at the position.
