Eagles GM Howie Roseman’s chat with Jason Kelce, New Heights is a must-watch
It appears the secret has gotten out. In a world where podcasts are seemingly popping up every week, one created by Philadelphia Eagles legend Jason Kelce and his younger brother Travis has distanced itself from the others.
For the uninitiated, New Heights is a WSE Original that is presented by Wave Sports + Entertainment. It’s an amazing weekly watch that’s doing amazing numbers. During Philly’s trip to the most recent NFL Scouting Combine, Philly’s vice president and general manager, Howie Roseman, sat with Jason for an exclusive one-on-one interview.
We don’t need to do much to get you pumped about that one, do we?
Eagles GM Howie Roseman doesn’t do a ton of interviews, but he hits a home run with Jason Kelce on New Heights.
“I’d say I’ve had less than five bad interactions with our fans, even in the worst of times, but I think, from my perspective, that motivates me. That challenges me because I understand there’s such a high standard and such a high expectation that I have to be on my game all of the time”. Those were the words of the Pro Football Writers of America’s two-time NFL Executive of the Year.
Duty called at the most recent NFL Scouting Combine, so Howie’s interview with Jason had to be broken into two sessions. Still, this might be one of the better interviews we’ve seen in a while.
For a little over 60 minutes, Birds fans were treated, among other things, to Roseman’s thoughts on building a team (fast forward to the one-hour, six-minute mark) and the A.J. Brown trade (fast forward to 1:15). He also shared his thoughts on the Eagles’ official scouting report on Jason Kelce at the 2011 combine (1:29) and, of course, that phenomenal offensive line that we love so much (1:35).

We have yet to watch an episode of New Heights that we haven’t enjoyed. This one’s a little different though. This one works because we get an all-access pass to Howie Roseman and Jason Kelce as they work well together. It’s a breath of fresh air and a far cry from ‘debate television’ and so many other pods or radio shows where the hosts are fighting for control of the microphone.
Sure, we have always known that Jason Kelce works on the microphone. He always has, and he always will. That’s one of the reasons that we love him, but here, Jason effortlessly does something we seldom see from hundreds of other ‘content creators’.
He allows the guest to take center stage. Trust us on this one. That doesn’t happen often, not even from guys who have more experience in doing this type of work. Jason doesn’t spend the interview reminding us that this is HIS show at every opportunity. As a result, we earn an opportunity to see Howie in ways that we rarely are allowed.
Philly’s G.M. loves his team and his city just as much as we do… if not more so. The recent Super Bowl loss may not age well, and we may still feel a sting at times when we think about it, but we wouldn’t trade this team for the world. We wouldn’t trade Howie either.
Who would have thunk we’d be here two years ago, huh? What a difference a year makes!
